Burlington / University of Vermont

The front doors are a good way into the chapel.

Weekly singing at the Ira Allen Chapel on the campus of the University of Vermont, Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm.

There is free parking in the lot behind the chapel which you can get access to from Colchester Avenue. Come in the back door, and head up the north stairs, or take the elevator up one story to the chapel.  The acoustics are awesome.

As with all sacred harp singings, there is no experience necessary and loaner books are available. We generally sing from Denson 1991. Any time you are in Burlington on a Tuesday evening and have a few minute or more to spare, stop by and sing with us. Just follow the sound of singing.

From I-89

Take Exit 14-W.
Merge into traffic off the ramp and stay in the right lane.
Bear RIGHT onto East Avenue.  You will go straight through a light and a stop sign. Continue to the end of East Ave. and make a LEFT at the light onto Colchester Avenue.  On Colchester Ave, stay in the left lane. You will go through one light (at the Fletcher Allen Hospital entrance). Take your VERY NEXT left, and the back parking lot to the Ira Allen Chapel will be on your right.  If you get to the college green, you’ve missed the turn.

From Burlington:

Take Pearl Street up the hill toward the University of Vermont (UVM).  After you cross South Willard, it changes name to Colchester Ave. Pass the green at UVM and take the first right after the bus stop shelter.  You’ll see the back parking lot for the chapel on your first right.  If you get to the medical center, you’ve missed it!
