New England Sacred Harp Convention 2017

Saturday September 30 – Sunday October 1

Contois Auditorium, 149 Church St, Burlington, VT 05601

We warmly invite you to join us this fall for the 42nd Annual New England Sacred Harp Convention! This year the convention will take place in the Green Mountains of Northern Vermont, in Burlington’s historic City Hall, on the shores of Lake Champlain.

We are delighted to welcome Buell Cobb from Alabama and Nathan Rees from Georgia who will teach a singing school Friday evening. We will sing from 10:00am to 3:30pm Saturday and Sunday, with dinner on the grounds at 12:30pm. There will be a social at the home of a local singer on Saturday evening, which will include a singing from the Shenandoah Harmony. On Monday from 3:00 to 5:00pm Buell Cobb will give a lecture on Sacred Harp singing at nearby St. Michael’s College, including a demonstration singing. All singers are welcome to participate.

The convention is free and no singing experience is necessary. All ages are welcome. Singing will be from The Sacred Harp (1991 Denson edition). Songbooks will be available to borrow and purchase. Come and go as you please throughout the weekend!
